Open wide

I’ve just been fitting the Headway under-saddle transducer in Brendan’s mandolin. You may remember a few posts back I showed you an old scribing block that I had picked up; from that same chap came this dentist mirror.

 

It’s just the thing to double check the insides of a mandolin after you’ve drilled a hole through its soundboard. The dentist mirror coupled with the sickly smell of burning bone (sanding the saddle!) is very evocative of childhood dental visits!

 And another interesting item for the luthier is, green gardening wire- perfect for threading pick-ups through holes!
